Dutch mezzo-soprano Merel-Magali Cox is currently in her first year masters at the Royal Northern College of Music, under the tutelage of Mary Plazas.

Her operatic roles include Cherubino Le Nozze di Figaro, Solomon Solomon, Linette L’Amour des Trois oranges, Idamante Idomeneo, Woodpecker The Cunning Little Vixen with upcoming engagements as Fidalma in Il Matrimonio Segreto and a Young Artist position at Buxton International Festival this summer.

āA finalist in the Frederic Cox Award for Singing, The Joyce and Michael Kennedy Award for the Singing of Strauss and David Clover Competition, she has recently won of the Bessie Cronshaw/Frost Brownson Song Cycle Prize and was awarded second prize in the Williams–Howard Prize.

Her concert highlights include Bach’s Matthäus-Passion, Weihnachts-oratorium, Magnificat, Himmelfahrts-oratorium and Johannes Passion with Manchester Baroque; Beethoven’s Ninth 'Choral Fantasy' Symphony; Britten's Canticles II and Rejoice the Lamb; Handel’s Messiah and Dixit Dominus; Haydn’s Nelson Mass; Rutter’s Feel the Spirit and Gloria; Vivaldi’s Gloria and Requiems by Duruflé, Haydn and Mozart with City of London Sinfonia. Most recently, Merel-Magali made her international debut with Elgar’s The Music Makers and Sea Pictures.
