Dutch mezzo-soprano Merel-Magali Cox is currently in her first year masters at the Royal Northern College of Music, under the tutelage of Mary Plazas.
Her operatic roles include Cherubino Le Nozze di Figaro, Solomon Solomon, Linette L’Amour des Trois Oranges, Idamante Idomeneo, Woodpecker The Cunning Little Vixen with upcoming engagements as Fidalma in Il Matrimonio Segreto and a Young Artist position for Buxton International Festival.
Merel-Magali was a finalist in the Frederic Cox Award for Singing, a recent winner of the Bessie Cronshaw/Frost Brownson Song Cycle Prize and won second prize in the Williams–Howard Prize.
Her recent concert highlights include Bach’s Johannes Passion with Manchester Baroque, Handel’s Messiah and Dixit Dominus, Mozart’s, Haydn’s and Duruflé’s Requiem, Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Britten's Rejoice the Lamb and Canticles II, Rutter’s Feel the Spirit & Gloria and Vivaldi’s Gloria. Most recently, Merel-Magali made her international debut with Elgar’s The Music Makers and Sea Pictures.
Upcoming performances include Mozart's Requiem with City of London Sinfonia, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Bach's Magnificat, Himmelfahrtsoratorium and Matthäus-Passion.
